How do we know God uses evil for good?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible demonstrates through multiple examples that God uses evil for good, such as in the lives of Job and Joseph.

Throughout scripture, we see instances where God sovereignly orchestrates events involving evil to fulfill His divine purposes. One of the most notable examples is the story of Joseph, whose brothers sold him into slavery out of jealousy. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph reassures them, stating, 'As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive.' Similarly, in the Book of Job, it is evident that God allowed Satan to test Job not out of a lack of control, but rather to manifest His glory and strengthen Job’s faith. These examples illustrate that while evil actions occur, God is never taken by surprise and instead utilizes them to orchestrate a greater good in His redemptive plan for His people.
