How do we know God uses hardship for good?

Answered in 1 source

God uses hardship to produce spiritual good, as stated in Romans 8:28, working all things together for those who love Him.

The assurance that God works all things for our good is clearly articulated in Romans 8:28, which states, 'And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.' Hardships are part of God's sovereign plan, serving to teach, refine, and bolster our spiritual foundation. Just as He allowed the Israelites to be afflicted in Egypt yet multiplied them, so too does He allow us to experience trials that ultimately serve to draw us closer to Himself. This reality is a source of comfort and strength, affirming that even when we face adversity, God’s loving purpose is at work to conform us to the image of His Son. Thus, through hardship, we can experience growth in virtue and faith.
