How do we know God will not impute our sins?

Answered in 1 source

God will not impute the sins of believers because, through Christ’s sacrifice, they have no sin to impute.

The assurance that God does not impute sins to believers comes from the truth found in 2 Corinthians 5:19, where it states that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them. This does not imply that believers are without fault in themselves, but rather that they are viewed in light of Christ's work on their behalf. The crux of this doctrine lies in the fact that Christ was made sin for us; thus, our sins were transferred to Him, and in return, we are made the righteousness of God in Him. It represents the perfect exchange through the grace of God towards His elect.
