How do we know God will provide joy after sorrow?

Answered in 1 source

We know God will provide joy after sorrow through His promises in Scripture, including the assurance that His favor leads to life and joy for His saints.

God's promises throughout Scripture assure us that joy will follow sorrow, particularly for His people. In Psalm 30:5, the declaration that 'joy cometh in the morning' indicates a divine assurance of restoration and hope. The life of Christ exemplifies this truth, as He endured significant suffering and sorrow throughout His ministry and on the cross, yet His resurrection brought ultimate joy not only to Himself but to all who believe in Him. The Apostle Paul also reflects this understanding in Romans 5:3-5, where he speaks of rejoicing in suffering, asserting that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope. This hope does not disappoint because God's love is poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Hence, faith in God's promises solidifies our assurance that joy is an eternal gift awaiting every believer, even following life’s profound sorrows.
