How do we know good works cannot save us?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible clearly states that no flesh will be justified by the deeds of the law (Romans 3:20).

In Romans 3:20, it is declared that by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in God's sight. While good works may alter our standing in the eyes of humans, they cannot rectify our guilt before God. The law exposes sin rather than providing a means for salvation; it acts as a mirror showing us our need for a Savior. This understanding is affirmed in Luke 16:15, where it is noted that what is esteemed by men is an abomination in the sight of God if not rooted in genuine faith. True righteousness can only come from faith in Christ, not from our deeds.
