How do we know grace and law cannot be mixed?

Answered in 1 source

Grace and law are fundamentally opposed; salvation cannot be based on works but solely on God's free grace.

Scripture makes it clear that grace and law cannot coexist as grounds for our acceptance with God. Galatians 5:4 emphasizes that if one seeks to be justified by the law, they have fallen from grace. The two are mutually exclusive: if our righteousness depends on our works, then it is works, not grace. The law's demands expose our failure and inability, while grace offers salvation through faith in Christ alone (Romans 11:6). Understanding this distinction is crucial for any believer looking to rest fully in the sufficiency of Christ's work.
