How do we know grace is essential for the unity of Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is essential for Christian unity as it creates a shared foundation upon which believers relate to God and one another.

Grace serves as the unifying force within the Christian community. According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:4-5, grace is given by Christ and enriches every believer in their knowledge and utterance of the gospel. This shared grace enables believers to experience peace with God and with each other. Furthermore, understanding that our acceptance before God is fully rooted in His grace ensures that we do not mix works with grace—doing so would threaten our unity. As believers who have all received grace, we are called to reflect that grace in our relationships, fostering an environment where unity thrives. Without grace, there can be no true peace, as both our standing before God and our interactions with one another are fundamentally grounded in it.
