How do we know grace is given freely?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is given freely by God, meaning no human effort or merit is required for its reception.

The concept of grace being given freely is deeply rooted in Scripture. In Romans 3:24, it is stated that we are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. This explicitly affirms that grace is not contingent on human works or efforts but is a gift bestowed by God. Furthermore, in Revelation 22:17, the invitation to receive the water of life freely reinforces the notion that God's gifts, including grace, are unmerited. Fallen humanity often misinterprets this word 'freely' to imply a cost, however, God's usage suggests there is no contribution required from us. The beauty of sovereign grace is that it is entirely the work of God.
