How do we know grace is meaningful if we don’t understand sin?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is only appreciated in the light of our understanding of sin and our need for redemption.

Understanding our dire condition as sinners is foundational to appreciating the grace of God. If we fail to recognize our sinfulness, we cannot comprehend the depth of what Christ did for us at the cross. The Bible clearly teaches that without the knowledge of sin, grace becomes meaningless. Paul illustrated this in Romans 7, where he explains that when the commandment came, sin revived; it is through the realization of our sin that we truly understand grace. A genuine recognition of our sin leads to a desire for mercy and redemption, highlighting the beauty and necessity of Christ’s atoning work.
