How do we know grace is superior to works?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is superior because it is God's unmerited favor that saves us, whereas works rely on human effort and are insufficient.

In the sermon, the preacher emphasizes that relying on works is a fundamental error of many, as seen in the rich young ruler who believed his adherence to the law was enough for salvation. Jesus made it clear that with men it is impossible to attain righteousness through works, but with God, all things are possible (Mark 10:27). This highlights that grace, as God’s sovereign gift, is what brings salvation rather than our attempts to earn it through righteous deeds, which always fall short of God's standard.
