How do we know grace through righteousness is true?

Answered in 1 source

It is revealed in Scripture, particularly in Romans 5:20-21, where grace reigns through the righteousness given by Christ.

The truth of grace reigning through righteousness is established through various scriptural affirmations. Romans 5:20-21 explicitly points to the law entering to increase the awareness of sin, yet emphasizes that where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. This tells us that our inability to meet the righteous requirements of the law draws us to the grace found in Christ. If righteousness could come by the law, then Christ's sacrifice would have been in vain (Galatians 2:21).

Additionally, the whole concept of grace hinges on the understanding that true righteousness is unattainable by human effort. Thus, the grace that God extends is rooted in the imputed righteousness of Christ, demonstrating that salvation is a gift not contingent upon our actions, but solely on Christ's completed work.
