How do we know humility is true according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

Biblical humility is evidenced through surrender, selflessness, and reliance on God's grace, as demonstrated by Christ's actions (Philippians 2:5-8).

True humility, according to Scripture, is characterized by a proper understanding of oneself in relation to God and others. It reflects a heart that esteems others better than itself (Philippians 2:3) and recognizes the need for God's grace, as shown by the publican in Luke 18:13 who cried out for mercy. This humility leads to genuine love for the brethren and is a sign of a transformed heart (1 John 3:14). The life of Christ is our ultimate model, as He humbled Himself, not seeking His own glory but serving others and submitting to the will of the Father (Philippians 2:5-8). This demonstrates that humility is not only an attitude but is also evidenced by our actions and the way we treat others.
