How do we know if a preacher is true or false?

Answered in 4 sources

A true preacher adheres strictly to the Scriptures and does not add to or take away from the Word of God (Matthew 15:8-9).

In evaluating preachers, one must assess whether they rely only on the Scriptures or introduce additional traditions and teachings. In Matthew 15:8-9, Jesus critiques those who honor Him with their lips while their hearts are far from Him, teaching doctrines that contradict God's Word. A true minister of the gospel proclaims salvation solely through Christ and emphasizes the sufficiency of Scripture. Additionally, they will not seek to draw followers to themselves, but rather to Christ. Therefore, faithful preaching is rooted in God's Word alone and articulates the grace of God rather than a blend of works and grace.
