How do we know if a preacher is truly from God?

Answered in 2 sources

We know a preacher is from God if they confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and their message aligns with Scripture (1 John 4:2).

According to 1 John 4:2, a key indicator of whether a preacher is of God is their confession that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This goes beyond mere acknowledgment of Christ's historical existence; it asserts His divinity and His role as the Messiah and Savior. The message must align with the Word of God and proclaim Christ as central to faith. In Acts 17:10, the Bereans exemplify this by eagerly receiving the word and testing it against Scripture. This process of scrutiny helps to distinguish true teachers from those who merely lead others astray, emphasizing the importance of knowing and comparing the messages against the Bible.
