How do we know if our faith in Christ is genuine?

Answered in 2 sources

Genuine faith is demonstrated by love for the brethren and obedience to God's commandments (1 John 3:18).

According to the Apostle John, evidence of genuine faith in Christ is seen through our love for others, particularly the brethren. In 1 John 3:18, John admonishes us to not just love in word or talk but in deed and truth. This love reflects the love Christ has shown us and should result in selfless sacrifice towards one another. Furthermore, John clarifies that our faith that works by love results in obedience to God’s commandments. This tangible expression of love and obedience is a vital indicator of our genuine relationship with Christ, as it reflects the transformative power of God's grace in our lives.
