How do we know if someone has a genuine profession of faith?

Answered in 1 source

A genuine profession of faith is evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit present in a believer's life.

The sermon makes it clear that not everyone who professes Christ is genuinely saved. True believers will exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in their lives—attributes such as love, joy, and peace. If these qualities are absent, it suggests that the spiritual life is likewise absent. As demonstrated in Matthew 21, God expects fruit from those who claim to belong to Him. Therefore, examination of one's life for these fruits offers insight into the authenticity and vitality of their faith and whether they are merely putting on a façade.
