How do we know if we are elected by God?

Answered in 3 sources

We can know we are God's elect by the assurance given through the Holy Spirit as we receive the gospel in power and by faith.

Identifying one's election involves recognizing the transformative power of the gospel in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 states, 'For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance.' When the gospel is preached, and we respond with faith and joy, despite affliction, it is evidence of God’s work in our hearts, affirming our place among the elect. This assurance comes as the Holy Spirit creates conviction in us, allowing us to discern truth from error and leading us to a deeper understanding of God's grace. If we find joy in Christ and hold to Him in faith, this confirms that we are called to salvation.
