How do we know if we are following after mercy?

Answered in 1 source

We follow after mercy when we recognize our need as sinners and turn to Jesus, the source of mercy.

Following after mercy is a heart posture that acknowledges our sinful state and our dependence on God's grace. Jesus said in Luke 5:31-32, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.' If we are truly aware of our sins, we will continuously seek His mercy and grace, recognizing that we are 'mercy beggars' in need of His intervention.
