How do we know if we are of the truth?

Answered in 1 source

We know we are of the truth if we love the brethren and hear the voice of Christ as He promised.

In 1 John 3:14-19, the Apostle John provides assurance that those who are truly of the truth are characterized by their love for the brethren. This love is not just verbal, but is expressed in action and in truth. Additionally, Jesus states in John 18:37 that 'everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice,' indicating that a genuine connection to the truth includes a response to Christ’s message. Believers demonstrate their love for God and others through selfless acts, a commitment to the truth, and a desire to hear and follow Christ's teachings. This love and responsiveness serve as indicators of the transformative work of the Holy Spirit within them, confirming their status as children of God.
