How do we know if we are one of God's elect?

Answered in 6 sources

We can know we are part of God's elect by recognizing our status as sinners in need of salvation and by believing in Christ.

The assurance of election is not found in personal merit or introspective examination alone; rather, it comes from acknowledging our total sinfulness and believing the promise of Christ's salvation. As preached from 1 Timothy 1:15, 'Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,' and anyone who identifies as a sinner can claim this promise. Furthermore, Romans 10:13 emphasizes that 'whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,' which assures all who trust in Christ's saving work that they are indeed part of the elect. The evidence of salvation is a heart that calls out to God, 'Lord, save me.'
