How do we know if we are one of the elect?

Answered in 1 source

Believers can know they are elect by responding to the true gospel message and receiving faith to trust in Christ.

Knowing if one is among the elect comes from the response to the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit within an individual. In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul outlines a golden chain of grace that includes foreknowledge, predestination, calling, justification, and glorification. The calling mentioned in verse 30 signifies the Holy Spirit's work through the preaching of the gospel. As Paul states, those who hear and believe in the gospel's message, 'my sheep hear my voice,' are evidence of being called and, thus, part of the elect. It is crucial to pay attention to whether one's faith rests in Christ alone, indicating the transformative work of God. The assurance of being elect is not found within oneself but through the faith that God provides and the love that He pours into our hearts (Romans 5:5).
