How do we know if we are part of Israel, the chosen people?

Answered in 1 source

We are part of Israel by knowing that we now rule over what once oppressed us, such as sin and the law.

To determine if one is part of Israel, we must consider the transformation that occurs in the life of a believer. As Greg Elmquist elaborates, we once struggled under the oppression of sin, the law, and other forces, but now we are called to rule over them. This new identity is confirmed through an experiential understanding of our liberation from such oppressors. God has not only called us out from bondage but has imparted the ability to reign over what once held us captive. As believers, we experience God's grace which allows us to see the futility of our old ways, demonstrating a definitive change that aligns with the New Testament teaching of being a 'new creation' in Christ. Thus, the evidence of ruling over former oppressors serves as a powerful indicator of our identity as members of Israel, the chosen people of God.
