How do we know if we are part of the elect?

Answered in 3 sources

The love for God and His people, as well as experiencing joy in the gospel, are indicators of being part of the elect (1 Peter 1:8-9).

Identifying oneself as part of the elect is not about a subjective experience but about objective evidence found in one's life. According to 1 Peter 1:8-9, a true believer is characterized by a profound love for Christ, whom they have not seen, and rejoices with 'unspeakable joy.' These affections stem from the work of the Holy Spirit and signify that one is indeed among the chosen. Additionally, those who genuinely love God and others reflect this grace in their lives, further indicating their status as the elect who are being kept by the power of God.
