How do we know if we are true believers or goats?

Answered in 1 source

True believers are distinguished by their faith in Christ, while goats illustrate those who reject His Word.

In John 10:26, Christ pointedly states, 'Ye believe not because ye are not of my sheep.' This indicates that true belief stems from being chosen as sheep by God. Disagreement with the teachings of Christ and Scripture is indicative of being among the goats, or the unsaved (John 10:24-26). It is the very nature of faith that reveals our status: true believers hear Christ’s voice, affirm His Word, and follow Him. This distinction highlights the sovereign grace of God in choosing and calling His sheep to faith.
