How do we know if we are truly loving others?

Answered in 1 source

We can know we truly love others if our love is modeled after how Christ loved us (John 15:12-13).

The true measure of our love for others is rooted in how Christ has loved us. In John 15:12-13, Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us, exemplified by His sacrificial death for our sins. This means that our love should be characterized by selflessness, endurance, and a willingness to address the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Additionally, 1 John 3:16-18 emphasizes that genuine love will lead us to action, not merely sentiments. Observing our willingness to lay down our lives for others and to act in love during times of hardship is a key indicator of our love's authenticity.
