How do we know if we are watchful for God's return?

Answered in 1 source

We can determine our watchfulness by examining our hearts, lives, and focus on God's teachings and the state of our spiritual condition.

To be watchful for God's return entails a sincere examination of our spiritual state and a readiness for His coming. Revelation 3:3 warns us that if we are not careful, we might be caught unprepared, like a thief in the night. This indicates that a true Christian life is marked by an ongoing vigilance and engagement with God's Word and His commandments. Are our thoughts and actions aligned with God's will? Are we prioritizing our spiritual growth and nourishing our faith? Being watchful means living with an expectancy of Christ's return, actively maintaining our relationship with Him, and avoiding the distractions of the world that could cause us to grow complacent in our faith.
