How do we know if we have genuine faith?

Answered in 2 sources

Genuine faith is evidenced by a heart transformed by God, characterized by the presence of 'oil' in our vessels, as described in Matthew 25.

In the parable of the ten virgins, five were wise, and five were foolish. The wise virgins had oil in their vessels, which signifies the life and vitality of true faith given by God. To have genuine faith, one must possess a new heart filled with God's Spirit, leading to a heartfelt longing for Christ. This transformation is not just superficial but deeply rooted in one's affections and desires toward God. As Ezekiel 36:25-27 explains, God promises to give His people a new heart and a new spirit, enabling them to walk in His statutes. Our assurance of salvation rests not in outward appearances but in the inward reality of grace and faith.
