How do we know if we have inward affection?

Answered in 1 source

We know we have inward affection if we exhibit love, pity, and sympathy toward our brethren, all stemming from the love of God within us.

The true evidence of inward affection can be observed in our relationships with others, particularly how we respond to their struggles and needs. If we find ourselves feeling pity and sympathy for our brethren, that is an indication that God’s love is working within us. The sermon highlights that a believer who is rooted in Christ will inherently possess a love that seeks the well-being of others. Rather than looking inward to measure our love, we should reflect on the love God demonstrated through Christ, as it is this love that we are called to emulate. Our concern for others should not come from a desire to earn favor or validate our salvation but should be a natural response driven by God's grace that has been lavished upon us.
