How do we know if we have love for others?

Answered in 1 source

We can discern our love for others by our tangible responses to their needs (1 John 3:17-18).

John anticipates a common question: how can one measure love within their heart? He answers this by affirming that love must be demonstrated through actions, particularly in how we respond to the tangible needs of our brethren. If one possesses material goods and sees a brother in need but fails to respond with compassion, it raises serious questions about the authenticity of their love. Love's true nature is to act, reflecting the sacrificial love of Christ (1 John 3:16) within us.
