How do we know if we really know God?

Answered in 1 source

We can know if we truly know God by the evidence of our obedience to His commands and our love for others.

John provides a clear criterion to assess our relationship with God: our obedience to His commands. In 1 John 2:3, he states that the assurance of knowing God is through keeping His commandments. This obedience arises from an intimate relationship with Christ, who empowers us to live according to God's will. Furthermore, the manifestation of love towards others is a critical indicator of our genuine knowledge of God, as the gospel compels us to express that love in practical, tangible ways. Thus, our lives should reflect both faithfulness to God's word and a deep love for those around us.
