Our ability to forgive others is evidence of our relationship with Christ and His transformative work in our hearts.
True forgiveness is evidenced by a changed heart and attitude towards others. In the parable of the unforgiving servant (Matthew 18:21-35), the servant who was forgiven a monumental debt failed to show the same mercy to a fellow servant. This illustrates that genuine forgiveness, which comes from a heart transformed by Christ, will lead us to extend compassion towards others. When we hold onto grudges or refuse to forgive, it reveals that we may not fully comprehend or accept the mercy we have received from God. Therefore, our daily interactions and the grace we show to others serve as indicators of our true spiritual condition.
