How do we know if we truly love Christ?

Answered in 1 source

We can know we truly love Christ by our heartfelt response to His grace and our commitment to serve others.

The true test of our love for Christ transcends mere words and is demonstrated through our heartfelt responses to His grace and forgiveness. As described in John 21:15-17, love for Christ is expressed not just in acknowledgment but also in action—'Feed my sheep.' A believer who genuinely loves Christ recognizes the magnitude of forgiveness received through Him, leading to a heartfelt desire to live out that love through service. Love is evidenced by a willingness to care for others, as this is the greatest expression of our affection towards Christ Himself.

Furthermore, a deep love for Christ manifests in obedience to His commands and a desire to glorify Him in all aspects of life. Thus, our awareness of Christ’s omniscience, as reflected in Peter's acknowledgment of Jesus knowing all things, reassures us that true love is sincere and rooted in understanding His grace, forgiving love, and the call to live in a manner that reflects that love to the world. This holistic view encompasses the emotional, volitional, and action-oriented dimensions of love within the Christian faith.
