How do we know if what we hear is from God?

Answered in 1 source

We can discern whether a teaching is from God by assessing who receives the glory from it.

Jesus teaches that the measure of truth is found in who gets the glory. In John 7:18, He says, 'He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.' Therefore, if the message promotes human achievement or free will, it is not from God. Conversely, if it exalts God's sovereignty and grace, it aligns with biblical truth. This principle illustrates that teachings elevating God's glory over man’s are of divine origin.
