How do we know it's wrong to portray Jesus in films?
Answered in 1 source
Portraying Jesus in films is wrong because it misrepresents His true nature and violates God's commands against imagery.
The portrayal of Jesus in any physical form contradicts scripture's teachings, which maintain that there is no physical description of Christ as we find in the Bible. Without a true representation, any image can become a false idol which misleads believers. Furthermore, the essence of worship is spiritual; as outlined in John 4:24, 'God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.' By depicting Jesus in a way that appeals to human imagination rather than scriptural truth, we risk reducing His majesty and complexity to mere entertainment that can dilute the gravity of His sacrifice.
