How do we know Jehoshaphat's actions were wrong?

Answered in 1 source

Jehoshaphat was rebuked by a prophet for joining affinity with Ahab and tolerating pagan worship.

The prophet Jehu confronted Jehoshaphat for his alliance with the ungodly King Ahab and for tolerating the high places where people engaged in pagan worship. These actions went against God's will, illustrating that even kings who seem to lead well can misstep by aligning with those opposed to God's ways or by allowing compromises within the faith community. This teaches the importance of holding to God’s commandments strictly and rejecting any form of idolatry or partnerships that conflict with a holy walk before God.
