How do we know Jesus Christ can truly forgive our sins?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus Christ forgives sins through His perfect sacrifice, which fully satisfies God's justice and removes our guilt.

The assurance of forgiveness lies in the nature of Christ's sacrifice. Hebrews 10:14 illustrates that 'by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.' This means that Christ, through His singular act of atonement, has fully dealt with the sins of His people. The sacrifices of the Old Testament were merely shadows; they could never take away sin (Hebrews 10:1-4). In contrast, Christ's sacrifice was sufficient to bear the weight of all sin, removing it entirely from those who trust in Him. This promise of forgiveness allows believers to have confidence and boldness in their relationship with God, as He chooses to remember their sins no more (Hebrews 10:17).
