How do we know Jesus Christ is our surety?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is our surety because He voluntarily took on the responsibility for our sins and secured our salvation through His sacrifice.

The concept of Christ as our surety is central to Reformed theology and is illustrated within Scriptures such as Hebrews 7:22. A surety is someone who guarantees or stands in for another, and Christ fulfills this role perfectly. Before we were even born or had committed sins, Christ offered Himself as our surety. Ephesians 1:4 states that we were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world, highlighting Christ's proactive role in our salvation. His willingness to bear our blame and take our punishment is not contingent upon our worthiness or merit. Just as Judah made a commitment to bear the blame for Benjamin long before any trouble arose, Christ established His covenant of grace with His people, assuring that they would be preserved and ultimately brought to glory.
