How do we know Jesus fulfills the promises of the Old Testament?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises as He embodies the substance of the shadows that were prophesied, specifically seen through the tabernacle's design.

The tabernacle, as noted in the sermon, acts as a type pointing directly to Christ. Colossians 2:17 emphasizes that the law, including the tabernacle, was merely a shadow, while the substance is found in Christ. This means every aspect of the tabernacle—from its purpose to its structure—was designed by God to foreshadow the coming of the true substance, who is Jesus. When John 1:14 states that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, it confirms the fulfillment of God's promise to be among His people, an essential tenet of sovereign grace theology as it shows that God's plan of redemption culminates in Christ. Thus, through Scripture and the typology of the tabernacle, we understand Jesus as the fulfillment of all Old Testament promises.
