How do we know Jesus has the power to save?

Answered in 3 sources

We know Jesus has the power to save through His declarations and actions that demonstrate authority over sin and death (Hebrews 7:25).

Jesus possesses the power to save due to His divine nature as God the Son, who is able to intercede for sinners before God. Hebrews 7:25 states, 'He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him.' This ability reflects Jesus' unique position, having accomplished the work of salvation through His life, death, and resurrection. His authority is further evidenced by His command over spiritual forces and His ability to forgive sins. When He forgives sins, as shown in Matthew 9:2-6, He proves that He has power over the ultimate consequences of sin, thereby affirming His role as the Savior. Our assurance lies in His declared intentions and the effectiveness of His sacrificial work on our behalf.
