How do we know Jesus is a true high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus fulfills all the qualifications of a high priest, being a real man, appointed by God, and free from sin.

The legitimacy of Jesus as a high priest is established through several key qualifications described in Scripture. He is taken from among men, which allows Him to empathize with our struggles and temptations, having lived a human life. He also possesses the necessary gifts and sacrifices required for atonement, notably offering Himself as the ultimate sacrifice. Furthermore, His appointment is divine—Jesus did not exalt Himself to this position, but was called by God, and His high priesthood is eternal, unlike the temporary nature of the Old Testament priests.
