How do we know Jesus is able to show mercy?

Jesus' ability to show mercy is deeply rooted in His sovereign power and authority. In Matthew 9, when the blind men approached Him, He asked them if they believed He was 'able' to heal them. This query not only reflects His miraculous capabilities but also His authority as the Messiah who can forgive sins. As Hebrews 9:22 explains, 'without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins,' which indicates that true mercy can only be extended because Jesus paid the price for our sins through His sacrificial death.
