How do we know Jesus is Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is recognized as the Christ through His fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and His divine nature, as well as by His authority and miraculous works.

The affirmation of Jesus as the Christ, or Messiah, is rooted in His fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies which foretold a Savior who would redeem His people. He consistently demonstrated His divine authority through miracles, His profound teachings, and ultimately, His resurrection from the dead. In the drama of His crucifixion, even the malefactor who acknowledged his own guilt also recognized Christ's innocence, labeling Him as 'Lord.' This recognition leads to genuine faith, which is the acknowledgment of Jesus as the Savior distinct from any mere historical figure. The role of divine revelation in opening the eyes of the heart to receive Christ cannot be overstated, as it is God's grace that allows us to recognize who Jesus truly is.
