How do we know Jesus is compassionate towards believers?

Answered in 1 source

We see Jesus' compassion through His dealings with individuals like John the Baptist and Peter, where He gently restores their faith and strength.

The Gospels present numerous examples of Jesus demonstrating profound compassion towards believers in distress. For instance, when John the Baptist doubts Jesus’ messianic identity while in prison, instead of rebuking him, Jesus reassures John by reminding him of His messianic signs (Matthew 11:2-6). Similarly, after Peter’s denial, Jesus tenderly reinstates him, asking, 'Do you love me?' three times, providing Peter with the assurance and purpose he thought he had lost (John 21:15-17). These interactions encapsulate the nature of Jesus as the one who does not break a bruised reed or quench a smoking flax, but instead revives and uplifts those who falter in faith.
