How do we know Jesus is the perfect high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is the perfect high priest because He offers His righteousness as a gift to God and provides full satisfaction for sin through His sacrifice.

In Hebrews 5:1-10, we see that Jesus’ qualifications as the high priest stem from His unique ability to present His own righteousness to God on behalf of humanity. This involves Him offering His perfect obedience as a gift to the Father, which serves as the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. Unlike the incomplete sacrifices offered by human priests, Christ’s sacrifice is fully satisfactory because it meets the infinite demands of God's holiness. His death on the cross was not just another act of sacrifice; it was the finished work that secured salvation for all whom He represents. Thus, our assurance in His priesthood comes from His unprecedented righteousness and the completeness of His sacrifice.
