How do we know Jesus is worthy to open the book in Revelation?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus is deemed worthy to open the book because He is the only one who has fulfilled God’s perfect righteousness and is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

In Revelation 5, a strong angel proclaims, 'Who is worthy to open the book?' Significantly, no one in heaven or earth is found worthy, emphasizing humanity's unworthiness due to sin. However, the text soon reveals that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ, has prevailed to open the book and loose its seals (Revelation 5:5). His worthiness comes from His divine nature as the Son of God and His sacrificial role as the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. This underscores the necessity of Christ's imputed righteousness for our standing before God, as no one else could bridge the gap created by sin and fulfill the law perfectly.
