How do we know Jesus paid for our sins?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible assures us that Jesus' sacrifice paid for all our sins, as he nailed the law against us to the cross.

In Colossians 2:14, Paul highlights that Jesus 'blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.' This signifies that the demands of the law, which condemned us, were satisfied through Christ's death. By offering Himself as a perfect sacrifice, He paid the penalty for all of our sins—past, present, and future. This absolute assurance that Jesus paid for our sins is foundational to the Reformed understanding of salvation, where faith in His finished work alone is the source of our righteousness.
