How do we know Jesus' priesthood is superior to earthly priests?

The superiority of Jesus' priesthood is established in the New Testament, emphasizing that He is without sin and has offered Himself as the once-for-all sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 10:10). Unlike earthly priests who are flawed and must offer sacrifices for their own sins, Jesus is the perfect, eternal High Priest who requires no sacrifices for His own failings. His priesthood is eternal, as He has passed into heaven, interceding for us at the right hand of God (Hebrews 8:1).

Moreover, the garments of the earthly priests were mere symbols, whereas Jesus' atoning work and righteousness are real and effective. The sacrificial system of the Old Testament pointed forward to Christ's greater work, confirming that through Him alone we have access to God. Therefore, our faith in His priesthood gives us assurance of our salvation.
