How do we know Jesus truly suffered in the flesh?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible affirms His suffering through the accounts of His experiences, including His physical thirst, and His embodiment of human frailty.

Jesus incarnated as fully God and fully man, experiencing the full range of human emotions and physical sensations. His suffering was real and profound, as seen when He declares 'I thirst' in John 19:28. This physical thirst illustrates not only His bodily anguish but also His spiritual desolation as He bore our sins. The heresy of Gnosticism, which denied the reality of Jesus' flesh, is refuted by John's affirmation that 'the Word was made flesh' (John 1:14). The tangible suffering of Christ, including His thirst, confirms His true humanity and emphasizes that He willingly experienced what we endure, fulfilling all righteousness necessary for our salvation.
