How do we know judgment is based on our relationship with Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Judgment is according to our relationship with Christ, as believers are not judged for sins but by their union with Him.

Paul emphasizes in 2 Corinthians 5:10 that all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, where judgment is based on one's relationship with Him. The believer's position in Christ means that although we all face judgment, those in Christ do so without fear of condemnation, as their sins are already forgiven through His atoning work. This is further illustrated by 1 John 4:17, which declares that we can have confidence in the day of judgment because as He is, so are we in this world. Therefore, for the believer, there is no condemnation, nor is there judgment for sins; instead, judgment will affirm the believer's acceptance in Christ and their identity as justified before God.
