How do we know justification is through faith alone?

Answered in 2 sources

Justification is attained through faith alone and not by works, as it is God who imparts righteousness to us in Christ.

The doctrine of justification by faith alone is a cornerstone of Reformed theology. As articulated in Romans 3:20, 'by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.' This highlights that no human efforts can contribute to our justification; it is solely the work of Christ's righteousness credited to us. The Apostle Paul emphatically states in Philippians 3:9 that he seeks to be found 'in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.' Therefore, our standing before God is based on Christ's work alone, not on any efforts or merits of our own.
